Software Download

Microsoft Software for Students

There are multiple places for students to obtain Microsoft software for their CIS and QMST courses. This document provides generalized information regarding sources and methods of downloading and installing Microsoft software. The document is accurate as of April 7, 2018 and acknowledging that specific directions may change from time to time.

Microsoft changed their policy regarding available versions, and generally has only the current and most recent versions available for download. For example, Visual Studio available versions are 2017 and 2015; Visio available versions are 2016 and 2013. Obtaining out-dated versions are possible in some instances, check with J. Krou for availability.

visio

Visio is available through the CISQM department's Microsoft Imagine account. Faculty whose courses require this software send their roster to J. Krou at least one week in advance of when faculty want students to begin downloading the software. Students have a two-week window to download and install the software. Students receive an email from J. Krou when accounts are setup, alerting students to complete the registration process, noting the expiration date, and reminding students that they are not allowed to download any additional software, which is a violation of the department's agreement with Microsoft. A link to the CISQM Microsoft Imagine site is provided to students in the email notification. Students should receive an email from Microsoft requesting completion of the registration process, but this email may be caught in their SPAM or Junk mail folders.
