CIS Computer Requirements

The Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods Department requires that all CIS students have access to a computer for CIS courses in order to be able to function in the current learning environment. Most courses offered by the Department will require the use of computers for coursework.
Students are required to access electronic forms of information, submit assignments and communicate with other students and faculty electronically. In order to do so, the requirements documented below must be met.
While access to computing technology is available through the university and department labs, dedicated individual computing resources are not provided. The Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods Department does not make any specific recommendations regarding your choice of Mac or PC computers.
Depending on the software required for some courses, Mac users should be prepared to run Boot Camp software (provided in utilities on the Mac) so that they can run a Windows operating system. Also note that if the Mac does not use an Intel based processor Windows may not work properly. The Windows OS is available at low or no cost through the University Bookstore and via the MSDNAA program offered to all CIS majors.
