Come join us at the Texas State University Round Rock campus and explore the exciting career opportunities of Data Analytics and Data Science. Expert speakers will discuss the career opportunities in their business areas. They will share their experiences in how to enter this exciting field and discuss the skill sets needed to succeed in a career in data science and analytics.

Dr. Cheryl Martin

Chief Data Scientist at Alegion

Dr. Martin joined Alegion in 2018. She previously directed the Center for Content Understanding and the Cyber Information Assurance and Decision Support Group at the Applied Research Laboratories, The University of Texas at Austin (ARL:UT). Prior to that, she worked at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Dr. Martin's areas of expertise include distributed artificial intelligence, machine learning, rule-based systems, and dynamically adaptive software.

Dr. Katrina Riehl

Director for the Core Data Science team at

For over a decade, Katrina has worked extensively in the fields of scientific computing, machine learning, data mining, and visualization. Most notably, she worked on classifying submarines from SONAR data at the University of Texas at Austin Applied Research Laboratories, fighting fraud at Apple, and leading efforts on the DARPA MEMEX project investigating Human Trafficking at Continuum Analytics. She also serves on the NumFOCUS/PyData Board of Directors supporting open science initiatives. Katrina received her PhD in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Michael Willette

Assistant Vice President, Technical Fellow for Data and Analytics at USAA

Michael Willette is an Assistant Vice President, Technical Fellow for Data and Analytics, Chief Financial Office, Chief Legal Office and Governance, Risk and Compliance. He is responsible for setting long-term strategic direction for USAA’s perspective domains. Michael joined USAA in 2003 and has over 15 years of experience as an architect in the IT field.

Prior to joining the USAA team Michael worked at Scotia Bank, AARP, and Blizzard Entertainment as an implementation architect, specializing in the delivery of Marketing, and CRM systems.

Shashi Mannepalli

Director of Reliability Engineering / Customer and Marketing Technologies at Home Depot

He joined The Home Depot in 2012 as a leader of Database Services and has held roles of increasing responsibility, including Senior Manager for Reliability Engineering.

Prior to joining The Home Depot, Shashi worked in Wall Street companies as an Infrastructure Leader supporting various teams (Trading Floor Support / Equities).
